There's a big push on Beacon Hill Wednesday to expand gambling in the Bay State to include slot machines added to local racetracks.

NewsCenter 5's Janet Wu reported that nearly 1,000 racetrack workers descended on the Statehouse Wednesday morning. They claim that they contribute more than $300 million to the state's economy annually, but that they could double that if slot machines are introduced.

Elmer Sherwin just might be the luckiest man on the planet.

As a U.S. Army airman during World War II, the Ohio native twice escaped death when his crew was pulled from separate ill-fated missions shortly before it was to leave the ground.

Bally Gaming and Systems, a business unit of Alliance Gaming Corp., announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Boyd Gaming Corp. to provide a complete systems and bonusing solution covering nearly 5,000 slot machines at
two of its Las Vegas locations, the South Coast Hotel and Casino now under construction and expected to open in early 2006 and another major localsproperty.

The agreement calls for Bally Gaming and Systems to install complete slot and casino management systems at two of Boyd Gaming's Las Vegas properties and equip a total of nearly 5,000 slot machines, including 2,450 slot machines at the South Coast, with Bally iVIEW interactive touch-screen displays and the
new Bally Power Bonusing(TM) technology.
